Unfortunately, only the award ticket from North American or as destination, can enjoy oneway discounts. if You are in other areas, such as Asia, you can book oneway tickets, but prices is the same as roundtrip.


This one-way reward tickets form still has some benefits.

For example, Air Canada's short haul economy class business class award tickets need 7500 miles


This is a major good news. Some Air Canada America route (or inside Canada routes), like Boston flying Montreal, coach tickets often sell at no less than $250 one-way. But with new short haul reward tickets, you only need 7.5K miles plus taxes and fees and $10-30 fuel surcharge to buy a ticket.




Some people may get british airways to say. Although the BA has has better reward tickets for some US canada short haul routes,such as the NYC-YYZ 4500 miles one way. But after all air canada has more US canada routes than amerian airlines, for example I book BA reward tickets from Boston to Montreal, the price will be 9000 miles. Because AA need connecting flights to Montreal, while the BA charge fares according to flight section, but air canada has direct flight from the Boston to Montreal.
